happy gong xi fa cai!!! (yes over the years of ppl laughing at me i realised its 'cai' not 'chai'.)
anyway, this post goes out to my one and only YEENG all far far away in germany. i hope ur cny is not too homesick and sad. so give u some sights of the red-red chinatown. hustling and bargaining galore. bring yeeng some smile for her cny yes? (hi pitch voice)

this is a sausage stall. i have nv seen so many sausages hang here in my whole life. faints.

oh this is a nice shot. many lanterns. even an odd purple one which seems to be for another festival like the chang-er-in-the-moon festival. ching ching ching. i think hanging chinese lanterns in one's house is sooooo cool.

ah this shop. all so many flowers!!! but the other closeup got blurred. and i hv no idea why the 'special brew tshirt' guy decides to stand in front of the camera at that opportune moment..

yes this shop. haha. the $1 shop. sooooo many biscuits. i feel so aunty lor.. yeeng my sacrifice to buy cny goodies here for u... haha..

yeeng do u think these look like turtles? xq do u think they look like potatoes? jooch says that when u water them then it will grow grass. then i am very amazed & he looks so disinterested. and zhenqin just shrugs and looks equally disinterested. but these are very cute right. yeeng they look like peegu!!!

guys dunno how to appreciate awfully cute things. poo.

oh this shot a bit blurred. but look at the lion head they are selling in the shop. and that crate of golden things. very interesting right.

and this one. look how the blue lion is under the glare of those pretty blue lights. and the backdrop is soooo oriental! (i think i sound like a tourist instead)

ah this shop. totally red. its soooooooo red. and they hv a cute umbrella too. red.

dunno but after tt red picture, this one looks so green to me. faints. anyway. its this new craze (or not so new?) nicely packaged nuts. and they have deals like fill-the-bag-as-much-as-u-can-and-only-pay-$5. no i didnt do that. too aunty. haha. and i am not very nutty.

oh the flower shop. look at the twisted bamboo! very amazing right. (once again i get the disinterested joooch look. then it becomes very amused cos i am amused about the bamboo). i thought bamboo is straight one right? anyway. the flowers are unusual cos they started importing Sweet Williams! (but of course they die within 12hours & so u go home, sleep, wake up and get a shock. but the florists dun tell u that. so chaw-kuan.)

ah this one. the stall owners look very happy. think they tan-tio alot of $. jooch drag me away from this stall for a couple of 'speculated' reaons:
  • he scared i buy this for his papa (his papa likes to decor the house & only i find it amusing. the rest of his household roll their eyes every cny.)
  • but i really this his papa will like it. can paste on the door. or on the wall. or on the kitchen.
  • jooch scared i start gg to read the chinese words out aloud. it might sound like a swear word. then even the stall owners will be traumatized.
  • maybe he is related to the stall owner?
  • jooch knows that if i am able to even read one full line then i will be very estatic and buy one for him, one for myself, and another one to keep as spare.
  • jooch scared i cant read fan-ti chinese. but actually he knows that even normal chinese i also got difficulty reading.
  • jooch really dun like chinese decor. but they are nice and red. can we exchange house?

ok. end of speculation. pls ask him why he dun let me go near this stall.

oh pomelo. u know, there are so many pomelos here. yeeng would u like me to post u a pomelo? i think it will withstand rough handling. haha. look they even got hanging pomelo. but i think tt is rather hazardous. you could bang ur head on them while bargaining w stall owner. or u could win the bargain, then turn around to bang ur head on the pomelo.

this is when we finally left the market and all its goodies. pretty chinatown this yr! very pretty and red and sparkly.

this one is interesting. they projected images on the facade of some white shophouses. so its really colourful and pretty.

ah this one. me and an oriental boy. thankyou zhenqin for taking the photo. (zhenqin refused to take w jooch. i think he also wants the oriental costume)

ok that's it yeeng. i hope u like the pix, taken on the eve's eve of CNY. dun miss home, its not too far away. thank goodness for internet. big hugs yeeng! happy xin nian kuai ler!

some ppl complain of being stressed. but isnt that wt happens the entire of their NUS life. seriously. but nothing beats the stress of gg for interviews and finding a job. at least mine is pre-set: i need to find a hospital. its just soooooo uncertain, u dunno where u are heading, u dunno wt outcome u will hv. cant even concentrate on studying for tests etc when all u hv, nagging at u at the back of ur mind is wt qn they will ask at the interview. wt sort of outcome will u and ur frens hv in the end. and all the hospitals are interviewing u within days and u will know where u will be in the next 9 months. it is a big deal. interviews translate to ur future.

now? no idea. seriously no idea.

today i went for nuh interview. tmr its 830hrs at TTSH, 1000hrs at CGH and 1200hrs at SGH. siao bo. i will be flying from hospital to hospital. i just feel so numb..
